Provincial Government Eyeing Faster Procurement Process for Dengue Logistics

As Cotabato Province is now under state of calamity due to dengue outbreak, the provincial government is eyeing faster procurement process for medicines, Ollyset Net Rolls and other supplies needed for its intensified anti-dengue campaign.

 The province was officially placed under state of calamity on August 27, 2019 through Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution Number 596 submitted and approved during SP’s 8th Regular Session and the present provincial leadership led by Vice Governor and Acting Governor Emmylou “Lala” Taliño-Mendoza wants procurement of medicines and supplies especially those which are utilized during the cleanup drive, fogging and larva elimination activities be fast-tracked.

 “We must act immediately as we expect shortage especially of Ollyset Nets in the coming days as the disease has become a national epidemic”, Mendoza said.

 The Acting Chief Executive directed IPHO (Integrated Provincial Health Office) Officer-In-Charge, Dr. Eva Rabaya during the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PDRRM) Full Council Meeting held September 4 at the Capitol Rooftop, Amas, Kidapawan City to immediately prepare and submit proposals to her office so that necessary recommendations will also be done to ensure that said medicines and supplies be procured immediately.

 The province has recorded a total of 4,583 cases from January to August 2, 2019 which is 221% higher compared to the same period last year  and sixteen deaths have also been reported so far based on the records of the IPHO.    

  Moreover, a Dengue Summit will be conducted this month to be spearheaded by the provincial government where updates on the particular mosquito-related disease including its preventive measures and risk reduction factors are expected to be tackled.//ozg\\
