Gracing last week’s Orientation on DA Plans, Programs and Special Projects held at Kidapawan City, Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco openly expressed her appreciation of the efforts of the Department of Agriculture specifically its Regional Office XII in making sure that the programs being implemented in the province are timely and responsive to the needs of the local farming sector.
“I am happy of your efforts in the Department. Keep up and thank you for always considering the province as one of the major beneficiaries of your programs. Please thank the Honorable Secretary for me”, she told the team who was headed by OIC Regional Executive Director Maricel Frando.
The Governor however wants that aside from receiving farm inputs and machineries, farmers in the province must also undergo social preparedness trainings to ensure that the assistance given to them will not go to waste.
“It’s just but timely that we upgrade our programs. Distribution of seeds and other farm inputs must be coupled with social preparation if we really want positive results. Let’s continue working for this and all other partnership programs as this is in consonance with President Rodrigo Duterte’s “whole of the nation” development approach”, the Chief Executive said.
The province of Cotabato was a recipient of several post-harvest facilities which were given during Secretary Manny Piñol’s Byaheng Bukid Program while it also awaits the downloading of P25M assistance for the Special Assistance for Agricultural Development the component of which includes allocation for the production of high value crops, banana and other fruit trees, swine and goat raising and distribution of high breed rice and corn seeds.
MIAD-P or Mindanao Inclusive Agriculture Development Program and Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (4Ks) Program are just 2 of the various agricultural programs set to be implemented in the province under the leadership of Governor Catamco. //ozg\\
