Gov Catamco stresses “no helmet, no travel policy”

Amas, Kidapawan City- Newly appointed Provincial Highway Patrol Group (HPG) Chief PMAJ Elmo C. Flores paid a courtesy visit to Cotabato Governor Nancy A. Catamco on Monday, January 25, 2021 at the Provincial Governor’s Office, Amas, Kidapawan City.

Delighted with the visit, Governor Catamco took the opportunity to stress the strict implementation of”no helmet, no travel policy” in Cotabato Province to ensure the safety of motorcycle riders and riding public.

“The public must understand that wearing of helmet is a national law and everyone is bound to abide with it,” the governor said.

According to Republic Act 10054 (RA 10054), known as the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009, all motorcycle riders are mandated to wear standard protective motorcycle helmets and provides for the specific penalties for its violation.

This law was passed pursuant to the State’s objective of having a more proactive and preventive approach to secure the safety of motorists, their passengers and pedestrians at all times through the mandatory enforcement of the use of standard protective motorcycle helmet as part of the policy of the State to secure and safeguard its citizens, particularly operators or drivers of motorcycles and their passengers, from ruinous and extremely injurious effects of fatal or life-threatening accidents and crashes.

The mother of the province also said that the provincial government will be implementing the “no helmet, no ayuda policy,” in case of vehicular accidents. This will also help and discipline the motorists to abide by this traffic rule. //pgo-idcd//
