Amas, Kidapawan City– Fifteen (15) landowners signed today the deed of absolute sale and received their respective checks from the Department of Transportation (DOTr) downloaded to the Provincial Government of Cotabato in payment for their land used in the construction of the Central Mindanao Airport (CMA) expansion and access road.
Cotabato Governor Nancy A. Catamco, DOTr Asst. Secretary Jim Melo, Registry of Deeds Provincial Head Atty. Ma. Theresa B. Pescadera, and M’lang Mayor Russel M. Abonado witnessed the ceremonial signing and distribution of checks held at the Provincial Capitol Grounds, Amas, Kidapawan City.
Ecstatic Governor Catamco said, “when you make impossible things happen it’s more fulfilling. From the bottom of my heart I thank you, land owners for patience and cooperation and the officers and staff from the different line agencies for your unwavering support in making this project possible.”
For this part DOTr Asec Melo speaking in behalf of DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade said that DOTr wants the CMA to be operational as soon as possible and willing to support the the provincial government of Cotabato in all its endeavors.
According to Teresita Buenaflor, one of the land owners, the signing of the deed of absolute sale and giving of payments to unpaid lands give hope not only to the people of M’lang but to all Cotabateños who wish to complete the much delayed government projects.
Last February 14, 2020, it can be recalled that Governor Catamco met the land owners’ of CMA and conducted an ocular inspection at the airport wherein DOTr representative Engr. Manny Lazam assured that the DOTr is ready to download additional funding for the project when the documents are perfected and completed.
After this new development, it is expected that DOTr and the provincial government of Cotabato can proceed with the perimeter fencing and expectantly, before the year ends the said airport will be operational. //pgo-idcd//
