AFP seeks support of LGUs in the implementation of EO 70

The Armed Forces of the Philippines has asked the support of local government units in the implementation of Executive Order 70 which institutionalizes the Whole-of-Nation Approach in attaining sustainable peace and creating a task force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC). 

This was conveyed yesterday by high ranking military officials during the Joint Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), Cotabato Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) and the Provincial Development Council (PDC) meeting held at the Capitol Rooftop, Amas, Kidapawan City.

Based on the peace and order situation report presented by 602nd Brigade Commander B/Gen Alfredo V. Rosario, 1002nd Brigade Commander B/Gen Adonis R. Bajao, 39th Infantry Battalion Commander LTC Rhojun Rosales and 901st Brigade Commander Col. Gabriel C. Viray, III, threat groups continue to sow fear and disorder and extortion activities in the province.

It was learned in the same meeting that communist guerilla front 51 operating in the areas of Davao City and Davao del Sur has been dissolved but its 10 remaining members have joined front 72 operating in Makilala -Tulunan area.

The officials said that the fight against local insurgency has shifted from military-led to civilian-lead approach through an integrated convergence of efforts to attain inclusive and sustainable peace.

In response to this, PPOC Acting Chairman and Acting Governor Emmylou “Lala” J. Taliño-Mendoza directed the military officials to submit as soon as possible their budget proposal to the Council for its appropriate action.
