Upping the province’s disaster preparedness and increasing communities’ resilience, Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco approved on August 13, the immediate procurement of additional ambulance units, disaster equipment supplies, food and non-food items for relief operations and the establishment of Hazard Monitoring and Early Warning System Facility in the province.
During the first meeting of the Provincial Risk Reduction and Management Council held today at the capitol rooftop, the Governor approved without hesitation along with the PDRRM partner agencies the approximately P10.1 million budget for the said undertaking.
The Governor believes that good governance goes beyond property reduction and part of her administration’s development plan is to reduce exposure to disasters and disaster risks situations by implementing programs which will protect both human and natural assets of the province.
“Disasters affect everyone regardless of economic status, hitting the vulnerable sector the most that’s why there is a need for us to put unified efforts to face this development challenge and reduce our exposure to risks and disaster risk factors with prevention, preparedness and resiliency’, ended Governor Catamco.\\ozg//
