Provincial Government of Cotabato beefs up security preparations for Kalivungan festival

Amas, Kidapawan City (July 27, 2022)- Cotabato Governor Emmylou “Lala” Taliño Mendoza has directed the Security Technical Working Group (TWG) of Kalivungan Festival 2022 to strengthen the security preparations for the 108th Founding Anniversary of Cotabato Province dubbed as Kalivungan Festival on September 1, 2022.

Following the directive of Governor Mendoza a 1-day contingency Planning Workshop was conducted on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) at Provincial Capitol Gymnasium, Amas, Kidapawan City.

PDRRMO Research and Planning Section Chief Abril Espadera said that their office along with Cotabato Police Provincial Office (CPPO), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and other stakeholders were directed by Mendoza to ensure the safety of the general public who will be joining the different Kalivungan activities.

He also added that the said activity aims to enhance networking and coordination among security teams to guarantee success of the Kalivungan festival 2022 celebration.

“We hope that this will be an incident-free Kalivungan that will be enjoyed not only by the Cotabateños but also by our guests,” Espadera ended.

Meanwhile, PDRRMO Head Mercedita Foronda thanked the PNP, AFP, Bureau of Fire Protection, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (MDRRMOs) and other partner agencies in helping the provincial government in all its endeavors especially in promoting peace and order in the province.

The Kalivungan festival celebration this year will formally commence on August 26, 2022 with the theme: “Matatag na Cotabato: Susulong sa anumang hamon!”//idcd//
