Cotabato Province pushes for tougher anti-illegal drugs campaign

Illegal drugs have no place in Cotabato Province.

This is the message that Cotabato Governor Nancy A. Catamco wants to stress as she directed key officials and partners in a meeting today, July 25, with the Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency to immediately launch tougher anti-illegal drugs campaign province-wide.

The province’s highest ranking official was alarmed with the report that the province was number one in Region XII with the most seized illegal drugs and was number one also with the most number of users.

These statistics were gathered and verified by the office of Regional Director Naravy D. Duquiatan of the PDEA Regional Office XII during their anti-illegal drugs operations in2017 and 2018.

“Illegal drug operators find Cotabato Province less-hostile”, RD Duquiatan said.

The Governor immediately called for the re-activation of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Abuse Council which she is expected to Chair.

Catamco further requested RD Duquiatan to immediately furnish her office with the latest update on the joint anti-illegal drugs campaign of PDEA, PNP and AFP in Cotabato Province.

The Governor is keen on doubling up security efforts especially in the province’s borderlines so as to preempt any illegal activities specifically those involving prohibited drugs.

“Illegal drug operators are not welcome in my province.  You cannot operate here, not during my administration”, Governor Catamco ended.//ozg\\
