Additional fire vehicles are expected to arrive soon for the Bureau of Fire Management (BFP) Cotabato Province after the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) unanimously approved on July 15 the resolution addressed to the Department of the Interior and Local Government requesting for the provision of two units fire truck for the said agency.
The PPOC resolution, which was authored by Board Member Onofre Respecio, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Chair on the Committee of Human Rights, Peace & Order and Public Safety, was based on the request of Acting Provincial Fire Marshall, Chief Inspector Jeraniel Taporco.
In his report, Fire Marshall Taporco revealed that BFP Cotabato currently has a total of 38 fire trucks which is 12 short of the ideal number of 50 units and that the approval of their request for additional fire trucks is a welcome development.
Governor Nancy Catamco, PPOC’s newest Chair, led the officials who graced yesterday’s PPOC Meeting which was also attended by Police Col. Maximo Layugan, the Provincial Director of the Cotabato Police Provincial Office, Brigade Commanders General Alfredo Rosario, Jr. and Col. Gabriel Viray II of the of the 602nd and 901st Brigades respectively and Deputy Brigade Commander Edmundo Peralta of the 1002nd Brigade.
Moreover, 1st District Representative Joel Sacdalan, Board Member Philbert Malaluan; Municipal Mayors Jesus Sacdalan of Alamada, Hon. Russel Abonado of Mlang, Hon. Armando Quibod, Hon. Sumulong Sultan and Hon. Jean Dino Roquero of Pigcawayan; and Vice Mayor Joselito Piñol of Mlang were also present with the top officials and representatives of national agencies like the DENR-CENRO, DAR-PARO, NCIP among others.
The Department of Interior and Local Government, which is headed by Provincial Director Ali Abdullah, is the lead agency in the conduct of PPOC as well as the PDC or Provincial Development Council Meetings. \\ozg//
