With an estimated crowd of more than 2,000, the Mutya ng Cotabato 2022 Talent Night held on Wednesday August 24, 2022 was not just a night to remember but an appreciation of the province’s rich culture and tradition and resilience of its people amidst adversities as showcased from most of the candidates’ presentations.
The show which opened with a spectacular production number of fifteen gorgeous candidates was immediately followed with a talent showdown mostly themed with cultural dances and music depicting the diverse culture in the province which featured Muslim and Indigenous People (IP) dances as well as the Maguindanao kulintang ensemble played by two of the candidates.
A combination of singing and dancing, monologue and declamation, the talent show also caught the audience’s attention with the ladies’ dramatic performances showing pains and strength, failure and determination to succeed and the love of a Cotabateña despite the discrimination and violence experienced from armed-conflicts in the past; and their call for peace and unity regardless of cultural differences and religious beliefs, women empowerment, and environment protection.
All stunning, all beautiful, all wonderful. However, only five were chosen finalists for the Best in Talent which include Miss Arakan Kathleen Bardenas, Miss Tulunan Stephanie Mae Tabieros, Miss Pikit Regine Dimaano, Miss Kidapawan Cathleen Angelie Abler, and Miss Magpet Nikki Lou Sidayon.
On August 28, Sunday, all fifteen gorgeous ladies will return on stage, this time at the Midsayap Municipal Gym to vie for the Mutya ng Cotabato crown.
Governor Emmylou “Lala” J. Taliño-Mendoza who graced the event expressed delight and thanked all the people behind the success of the activity. The governor also took the chance to invite all Cotabateños to join the celebration of the province’s 108th founding anniversary which will formally start on August 26, 2022.//idcd-pgo//
