Banisilan, Cotabato (February 26, 2021) – The long wait is finally over for residents of the province’s farthest town to have that dreamed hospital as local officials and partners prepare necessary requirements for its construction.
“This is what we have been waiting for all our lives,” says Banisilan Mayor Jesus F. Alisasis who shared the municipality’s ordeal in transporting patients to the nearest hospitals which are located in Bukidnon Province particularly in the towns of Wao and Maramag.
He said, from these hospitals, patients with more complicated cases are often referred and transported to a higher facility as far as Cagayan de Oro City.
The construction of the P50 million Banisilan District Hospital which Mayor Alisasis refered to as “hulog ng langit” will be funded through Bukidnon’s Senator Miguel “Migz” Zubiri worth P30 million and the provincial government’s supplemental budget of P20 million.
Overwhelmed with this big leap of development in this 2nd class municipality, Mayor Alisalis was filled with grateful words to Governor Nancy A. Catamco who according to him had the political will to pursue this decade-old dream.
“We thank the Lord first of all for paving the way and, our governor, who did not hesitate to support and help us achieve this vision we once had for our people long long time ago. She is the one we’ve been looking for all along, she made our dream come true,” he said in Filipino.
Governor Catamco, who expressed the same respect to the mayor, also thanked Senator “Migz” Zubiri who she said believed in this project and immediately downloaded initial funds for the said hospital project.
The governor also thanked the Calvo Family especially “Tatay Meling” and “Nanay Lourdes”Calvo who without any doubt donated the 11,260sqm or more than 1-hectare of their land located in Wadja, Banisilan, for the construction of the district hospital in the locality.
The hospital project in Banisilan is expected to be implemented this year and expected to be operational in 2022.//idcd-pgo//
