Amas, Kidapawan City- “Save, invest and spend your money wisely. ” That is the challenge of Governor Nancy A. Catamco to all the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who are sacrificing to work in foreign lands just to give their respective family a better future.
Governor Catamco made her statement today, May 4, 2020 after meeting one stranded OFW from Makilala, who paid a courtesy visit to her office.
According to Catamco she is aware that many of the OFWs now who are stranded are affected with the Enhanced Community Quarantine (GCQ) and General Community Quarantine (GCQ) implemented by the government to stop the COVID-19 from spreading.
“I am aware of the effect brought by COVID-19 pandemic to our stranded OFWs who cannot go back to their respective work due to travel delays, but we have to bear in mind that the government is doing its best to cater all the affected sectors. In the meantime let us be creative and resourceful by looking into other option on how we can earn money while we are on the strict implementation of ECQ and GCQ,” the governor said.
She also added that there’s always a way, she even suggested to the said OFW who visit her who is working as a cook in Saudi Arabia for 28 years to open a small business and use the power of social media in promoting his Arabian cuisine homemade products.
The governor also emphasized that the Provincial Government of Cotabato is willing to help the OFWs and facilitate their needs in availing different assistance given by different line agencies.//idcd//
