Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” T. Go has given financial assistance worth P18M to the local government units of Makilala, Magpet, and Kidapawan City, all of North Cotabato province and affected by 3 strong earthquakes that struck on October 16, 29, and 31.
In a turn-over ceremony held on November 22 at the capitol compound at Amas, Kidapawan City, Go, handed to Magpet Mayor Florenito T. Gonzaga a check worth P3M, to Makilala Mayor Armando Quibod, a P10M check, and to Kidapawan City Vice Mayor Jivy Roe Bombeo another check worth P5M.
The Senator explained that the financial assistance came from the Office of the President as he heaped praises on President Rodrigo Duterte as the sincerest and most hard-working Chief Executive who deeply cares for his constituents
Along with the financial assistance given to North Cotabato province, Go also handed over other donations including 85 portable toilets, or portalets, from the Department of Public Works and Highways, medicines and logistics from the Department of Health, P3,000 financial assistance for families with totally-damaged houses from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, and certificates of entitlement from the Department of Labor and Employment.
Governor Nancy Alaan Catamco in her message expressed her gratitude to President Duterte and Senator Go for the assistance extended to the people of North Cotabato, on time with her return to office after serving a 90-day suspension.
“We are temporarily experiencing a setback, but as one people we will rise from ruins and together we will rebuild our province into a stronger, better and more progressive one,” Catamco stressed in her message.
She also assured the senator and the members of his entourage that the rehabilitation and recovery program for the province will soon proceed under the Comprehensive Provincial Rebuilding Plan with the “Adopt a Family- to build a home; Adopt a School- to build a future; and Adopt a Community- to build a strong nation” as the main implementation focus.
Board Members Shirlyn Macasarte-Villanueva, Krista Piñol-Solis, Philbert Malaluan, Onofre Respicio and Dulia Sultan were among the provincial officials who welcomed Go and his party.
Also joining Go were representatives from the Technical education and Skills Development Authority, National Housing Authority, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corpporation.//idcd//
