Cotabato Governor Nancy A. Catamco presided today, March 24, 2020 the Provincial Peace and Order Council Executive Committee Meeting held at the Capitol Rooftop, Amas, Kidapawan City.
The meeting aimed at harmonizing and unifying the plan and movement of 18 Local Government Units and Provincial Government of Cotabato especially in the utilization of quick response fund (QRF) and conducting of relief operation if ever the community quarantine/lockdown will go beyond 14 days.
During the meeting DILG Cotabato Province Outcome Manager Inecita C. Kionisala presented and explained to the members of PPOC the issuances and policies on COVID-19 threat.
On the other hand Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Health and Sanitation and Incident Command Manager BM Philbert Malaluan presented the Regional Peace and Order Council-Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RPOC-RDRRMC) guidelines for the implementation of general community quarantine for Region XII and also discussed the different executive orders issued by Governor Catamco to answer and clarify queries of municipal chief executives.
Governor Catamco commended the municipal mayors for doing their best in protecting the people of Cotabato province against the COVID-19 threat.
“I commend everyone for doing your job in protecting our people, let us unite and harmonize our plan to stop the virus from spreading. Together, we can surpass this crisis,” the governor said.
She also lauded the dedication and sacrifice of all healthcare workers and frontliners who serve their respective community during this difficult time.
It was also raised during the meeting that used of habal-habal as means of transportation in far-flung barangays of the province should be probihited to maintain 1 meter social distancing and avoid the virus from spreading.
Aleosan Vice Mayor Eduardo Cabaya proposed that instead of preventing the habal-habal drivers in making livelihood for their family why not utilize them as marketers of the barangay to also help them feed their respective families.
Creating of task force to conduct inventory of food supply in the entire province, purchase of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE’s) and medical supplies, and giving of aid to different LGUs were among the topics discussed.//pgo-idcd//
