Amas, Kidapawan City – Close to 200 badminton players in the province will converge at the Provincial Gymnasium to compete for this year’s open tournament as part of Cotabato’s 105th Foundation Anniversary celebration.
182 shuttlers coming from different towns in the province and the lone city of Kidapawan will clash in their respective categories during the elimination, semi-final rounds, and championship games from August 24 to 25, 2019.
The said event will have twelve (12) categories and respective prizes for the winning players which include: Men’s Open & Mixed Open: Champion – P8,000.00 + Medals, 1st Runner Up – P3,500.00; Men’s Doubles & Mixed Doubles (40 y/o and up): Champion – 4,000.00 + Medals, 1st Runner Up – P2,000.00; Men’s & Mixed Doubles Level C: Champion – P5,000.00 + Medals; 1st Runner Up – P2,500.00; Men’s Doubles Level D/E , Level F – Men’s Doubles, Ladies Doubles, Mixed Doubles (25 y/o and up), Men’s Doubles Level G: Champion – P4,000.00 + Medals, 1st Runner Up – P2,000.00; 13 Years Old and Under (Boys Doubles, Girls Doubles, Mixed Doubles) – P2,000.00 + Medals, 1st Runner Up – P1,000.00.
Other upcoming or ongoing sports events in this year’s Kalivungan Festival include basketball tournament (intercollegiate, inter-LGU, inter-agency) which already started last July 1 and ends on September 1; 9th Mindanao Chess Open Tournament (August 24-25, Capitol Rooftop), Invitational Bowling Competition (August 24-26, Dover Lanes Kidapawan City), Volleyball Women Intercollegiate Championship (August 26-September 1), and Lawn Tennis National Tournament (August 24-26, Kidapawan City Tennis Court). 4×4 Off Road Challenge (August 24-25), Mountain Bike Challenge (August 31), MSME Trade Expo and Inventors’ Expo (August 26-September 1), Banda at Kantahan sa Kapitolyo and Market-Market sa Kapitolyo from August 26-September 1, are also among the highlights of the weeklong festivities. .//lqg//
