The technical working group (TWG) of the proposed rural airport in the province are now on a timeframe as the provincial leadership is keen on completing the airport project.
In a meeting with landowners yesterday, North Cotabato Governor Nancy A. Catamco has ordered immediate processing of the legal documents needed for the Central Mindanao Airport located at Tawan-tawan, Mlang, Cotabato.
She said that it is her administration’s top priority to complete the more than a decade-old proposed airport which is designed to help farmers in the province and other cities and provinces in Central Mindanao. She assured landowners that the issues and concerns raised will be addressed properly in the soonest time possible.
One of the problems identified was the lack of deed of sale for the lands purchased by the provincial government of which, because of this, landowners were also forced to pay tax for the said properties.
Governor Catamco on the other hand, said the provincial government will have to reimburse the taxes due to the province of Cotabato since the time it has acquired the said lands. She tasked Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Jonah D. Mineses to fast track the release of the confirmation of sale and other necessary documents needed in order to push through with the project.
The governor stressed that the problems raised by landowners should be given proper and immediate attention. The TWG is given the whole month of August as their timeline.
Meanwhile, former Mlang Mayor Luigi Cuerpo, one of the landowners who attended the meeting, expressed gratitude to Governor Catamco for hearing the side of the landowners and for her strong political will to find immediate solution to their concerns. //idcd/lqg//
