Midsayap repeats win on Kalivungan 2017 Street Dancing Contest

2014 Kalivungan Streetdancing Grand Champion, Midsayap, once again,wins this years’ Kalivungan Street Dancing Competition at the Capitol Grandstand, Amas, Kidapawan City on September 1. Any team winning a title in Major competitions like this can tell how difficult it is to reach the pinnacle. And very few can tell what it’s like to stay there, year after year.

And after three years, the Mucipality of Midsayap repeatedly proved its competencyon dancing skills and performance as Kalivungan Festival 2017 culminates same day.

Midsayap was also awarded as 1st runner-up last 2015 with the same competition.
Street dancing is now North Cotabato’s growing interest as it provides opportunity for tourists, guests, family members, friends, and visitors to watch the grand competition for free.It is initiated and facilitated by the Provincial Government of Cotabato and the Department of Education, to showcase the cultural dances of the tri-people in North Cotabato:Christians, Moslems, and the Manobos.

This year, it drew Five (5) contingents from across the province: Kidapawan City represented by Central Mindanao Colleges, Midsayap by St. Jude College of Science and Technology, Banisilan by Samala National High School, Carmen by Carmen National High School, and M’lang by Lika National High School.

Two major components are judged.30% is the street dancing category, which describes the choreographed forward-moving dance along the parade route. The remaining 70% will be the dance showdown category which shows the whole showcase of the tribe’s presentation.

The culmination day was graced by Vice President Maria Leonor “Lenny” Robredo, who is also the guest of honor. Along with the Provincial and Local Officials of North Cotabato, Robredo delivered her excitement as she sees how North Cotabato economically improved after her latest visit last 2015.

“Marami na ang nagbago, at hindi ko akalain na sobrang ganda na pala ng North Cotabato ngayon” in her message as she encourage Cotabateños to continue striving hard for the future of their children.

Governor Emmylou “Lala” J. Taliño-Mendoza expressed her gratitude to VP Lenny for coming to the event. She also reassured the people that her advocacy “Serbisyong Totoo” will continue to help and support the needs of the people. “Today, we celebrate our commemoration as Cotabateños. Let us strengthen our relationship more as we conquer our endless victory, being top 4 most competitive province in the country, Mabuhay ang North Cotabato,” she lauded as she ends her speech.

Meanwhile, Vice Governor Shirlyn “Neneng” Macasarte-Villanueva conveys how she felt delighted with the participation of all the local government units of North Cotabato especially to their respective contribution on the many events conducted in the province.
“We thank God for the blessings we received as we mark our 103 years of existence today. May we continue to live in harmony and keep our faith united to track our success,” she said.
Grand Champion(Midsayap)received P300,000.00 cash prize, P200,000.00 for 1st runner-up (M’lang), P100,000.00 for 2nd runner-up {Banisilan), and P50,000.00 each as consolation prize for non-winners.
