Gov, SP Board Members extend financial aid to families of killed,injured govt troops

TULUNAN, NORTH COTABATO – North Cotabato Governor Emmylou “Lala” Taliño-Mendoza visited today the bereaved family of Sgt. Alonto Heramis, member of the 1002nd Brigade of the Phil. Army who was killed along with eight other government troops in an ambush perpetrated by members of the New People’s Army (NPA) in the boundary of Barangay Caridad and Bituan, Tulunan, North Cotabato on Oct. 21, 2013.

In her visit, Gov. Taliño-Mendoza showed her sincerest desire to console the grieving family of Heramis and handed financial assistance to his family.


Along with this, the governor sent Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Members Noel Baynosa, Joemar Cerebo and Loreto Cabaya, Jr. to the families of the other killed soldiers as well as those wounded in action.


Baynosa went to Kidapawan area, Cerebo to Matalam and Cabaya to Midsayap, met with the families and distributed the much-needed financial support to augment in costs such as the burial of the soldiers.


Gov Mendoza personally handed the amount of P10, 000 cash to the family of Heramis while the same amount was distributed by the board members to the rest of the victims’ families.


The soldiers belonging to 38th IB, 57th IB, and 1002nd Brigade are on their way to Barangay Caridad on board an army truck 9AM on Monday when waylaid by a big number of NPA members.


Aside from Heramis, the other fatalities were identified as SSgt. Joel Hadlucon, 38 IB, resident of Purok Catalunan Pequeño, Davao City; Sgt. Jovencio S. Ocho, OS PA, 38 IB, resident of Bartolaba Subdivision, Kidapawan City; Cpl. Thong M. Bansuan, PA 57 IB,resident of Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao; Cpl. Razzel Baylon, 57th IB, resident of Barangay Gumaga, Libungan; Cpl. Roger Espititu, resident of Barangay Anonang, Bansalan, CAA Jonell Tundocan, resident of Barangay New Tigbawan, Matalam, CAA Reynaldo Ballesteros, resident of Barangay Salunayan, Midsayap and CAA Melquides Butaslac, Jr. resident of Barangay Amas, Kidapawan City.

Those wounded were identified as 1Lt. Bruno Jugo, Sgt. Gredum Maybitoin, S/Sgt. Rolando Abastillas, PFC Frederick Barcenal and CAA Elmer Esmella all were brought to Kidapawan Doctors Hospital. Inc. and were still recovering.


All of them were given P 5,000 each by Gov. Taliño-Mendoza as financial assistance.
