Cotabato Province joins celebration of World Rabies Day today

Eyeing a rabies-free province in 2020, the provincial government of Cotabato joined today’s celebration of the World Rabies Day by launching an intensive spaying and neutering activities at the plaza of Kidapawan City.

The province’s celebration, which was opened by a motorcade this morning, will cater to both pre-registered dog owners and walk-in clients who wish to let their pets undergo castration and keep them from reproducing.

This move, according to the office of the Provincial Veterinarian headed by Dr. Rufino Sorupia, is also in support of the launching of the Regional Veterinary Office’s campaign dubbed as “BRIDGE” or Battling Rabies through Improved Delivery Geared to Eradication which ensures the door-to-door delivery of requested rabies vaccines to requesting parties or local government units.

The province intensifies its Rabies Control and Prevention Program as it targets a rabies-free community by 2020 ahead of the world’s target of rabies eradication by 2030.

The province’s castration program in line with the World Rabies Day celebration will culminate on October 10 at Midsayap, Cotabato as other veterinary mission activities like rabies vaccination program, vitamin supplementation and training program on responsible pet ownership continue province-wide.  //idcd-pgo/ozg\\
