Christmas starts early (once again) in Cotabato Province as provincial government launches its gift-giving program

Close to 1,000 indigent children were given gift-packs, snacks and prizes yesterday in three barangays of the towns of Matalam and Mlang as the provincial government of Cotabato launched its 2017’s Pasko Alay sa mga Bata gift-giving program.

300 pre-registered children ages 12 years and below who were assessed and certified by the municipalities’ respective Social Welfare and Development Office are identified to be beneficiaries of the said gift-giving activity with the provincial employees as the program facilitators.

In yesterday’s activity held at barangay Alimodian in Matalam town, 85 additional children were also given gift packs aside from the 300 pre-registered kids where Matalam Mayor Oscar Valdevieso provided allocation for the food of the additional kids.

Same gift-giving activity was also conducted in Taguranao, another barangay in Matalam, where former Board member and now Provincial Planning Coordinator Officer, Loreto Cabaya led the gift-giving program.

The General Services led the said launching activities in Matalam.

In Mlang meanwhile, the program’s initiator herself, Cotabato Governor Emmylou”Lala” Taliño-Mendoza led the giving of gifts in barangay Pulang Lupa where she was joined by Board Members Jonathan Tabara and Alberti Rivera, former Board Member Ivy Lei Ballitoc, Mlang Municipal Councilors Thadeo Andres, Daniel Berja and Giovanni Tejada and Pulanglupa Chairman Rene Sales.

The children from brangay Bagumbayan in Tulunan are due to receive their gift packs today, November 29.

Next up were the kids of New Panay in Aleosan (November 30), Fort Pikit, Pikit on December 1; Wadya in Banisilan (December 4); Bangilan, Kabacan and Bentangan, Carmen both on December 5; Guiling in Alamada and Macasendeg, Midsayap on December 6; Demapaco, Libungan and Banucagon, Pigcawayan on December 8; Kiyab, Antipas and Lanao Kuran both  on December 11; Sallba, Magpet and Ilustre, Pres. Roxas on December 12 and Concepcion, Makilala and Sumbac of Kidapawan City on December 13.

Governor Mendoza is also set to lead the gift-giving activity for the kids of the provincial employees on December 18 before the provincial employees’ Christmas party.//idcd-pgo/ozg\\
