CotProv distributes P2M worth farm inputs to farmer organizations

Amas, Kidapawan City- The Provincial Government of Cotabato through its Office of Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) facilitated on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, the distribution of collapsible solar driers and pumps and engine sets to different farmer organizations in the province.

A total of 40 units collapsible solar driers and 20 sets of pumps and engine sets amounting to P2.1M were distributed by the said office to various farmer association coming from the municipalities of Magpet, President Roxas, Magpet, Matalam, Arakan, Midsayap, M’lang, Libungan, Aleosan, Makilala, Pigcawayan, Pikit, Kabacan and Carmen.

Mr. Joy Prudente Sr., President of Dalapuan Trisource Farmers Association (DTFA) in Antipas, Cotabato thanked Cotabato Governor Nancy A. Catamco for giving priority to the agriculture sector especially this time of pandemic where assistance from the government is really needed. DTFA is one of the farmer organizations who is a recipient of the said project.

“Dako gid ang amon pasalamat sa provincial government kay isa ang amon association sa natagaan sang pumps kag engine sets nga magamit namon sa mga areas nga galisod sa patubig sa ila uma labi na kung panahon sang tig-init,”Prudente said.

Engr. Elena Ragonton, Chief of OPAg Engineering Division, on the other hand said that compared to traditional drying method used by farmers, a collapsible solar drier will help the farmer lessen post harvest losses.

Meanwhile, the pumps and engine sets will also help the areas and farmlands with limited water supply move water from the water source, which could be a river, dam or irrigation.

The distribution of farm inputs is part of the provincial government’s effort to intensify the agricultural programs to assist farmers and help them cope from the pandemic and other calamities that hit the province.//idcd//
