DILG 12 extends technical assistance to Cotabato LGUs on the Localization of Sustainable Development Goals

The Department of the Interior and Local Government region 12 in collaboration with the G-HUBS or Holistic Undertakings Bridging Solutions for Governance has provided the local government units of Cotabato along with the lone city and 17 municipalities technical assistance on the Localization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) geared towards the realization of President Rodrigo Duterte’s goal that by 2040 every Filipino will have stable, progressive and peaceful life.

DILG Provincial Director Ali B. Abdullah in his message during the orientation meeting last October 8, 2019 at the capitol rooftop clarified that this initiative is in connection with Memorandum Circular No. 12, series of 2016 directing the formulation of the country’s medium term development plan based on the 0-10 Socio Economic Agenda, the Ambisyon  Natin 20140 and the 2030 Agenda. 

The participants from various LGUs in the province were oriented on social development goals localization,SDG localization tools and guided in preparing their own respective localization action plan with the support of local chief executives.

Through the workshop, participants were able to accomplish the Local Administration Assessment Form through the use of SDGs indicators primary data provided by the DILG and addressed some data gap identified.

Among the sustainable development goals (SGDs) tool indicators include the seven reform areas of the CMGP or Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces, a program for the repair, rehabilitation and improvement of roads and bridges with baseline from 2015 to 2017.

Provincial Planning Development Coordinator Ms. Cynthia D. Ortega thanked the DILG ,G-HUBS and Cotabato Focal Person Architect Carlito Y. Uy for spearheading the activity and for all the support they have extended to the provincial government of Cotabato. She also thank the participants as she urged all concerned agencies and provincial offices to submit immediately all necessary data and documents for timely submission to the DILG regional office.

Meanwhile, third district Board Member Jonathan M. Tabara who represented Governor Emmylou “Lala” J. Taliño Mendoza in the said activity conveyed his gratitude to the lead agencies, lgu’s and all other stakeholders present for their effort and support in fortifying the provincial government’s programs.

Among other participants were Vice Mayors, MPDCs (Municipal Planning Development Coordinators) ME (Municipal Engineers), representatives from PSA (Philippine Statistics Authority) DepEd (Department of Education), DENR (Department of Environment and Natural Resources) NGOs (Non-Government Organizations) and Department Heads of LGU Cotabato. //mdd\\
